Message-ID: Hello UTS Progsoc'ers! A big thanks to everyone who came by the 40 degree O-Day stall this year and ate our pringles! We enjoyed meeting all of you, programmers and those interested in programming alike. *If you signed up at O'Day*, we've subscribed you to the *progsoc-announce* mailing list for information about ProgSoc events, hackthons, employment and other IT opportunities. This year is going to be a good one! we've already got heaps of stuff planned, most importantly, the annual ProgComp! *ProgComp* The official UTS ProgComp is coming up, April 2nd. Free entry, free pizza, lots of fun. Massive $6,000 prize pool, $1,500 for individual 1st place. Open to anyone with an interest in programming, *you're sure to solve at least one problem* and have heaps of fun (not referring to the data structure here). *VR chats and more* Our friend Patrick, a UTS alumni and the man behind DevDiner (a *fantastic* source for keeping up with emerging tech), is coming in to have a chat about Virtual/Artificial Reality, wearables, Internet of Things and more. We're still in the midst of organising, it's likely to be in late April. *Update from the Exec* Finally, a short message from Your Exec (places tongue in cheek): Slowly but surely the last of bureaucracies relating to bank accounts is being completed, and *soon *we will be able to host that nice welcome drinks at The Loft we've all been waiting for. We're thinking of having a little sesh, bringing our laptops, maybe attempt some of the practice questions for the comp, and naturally general chit-chat about things! If you have any requests or desires, feel free to message us -- this is your society too! And of course, what would a society email be like without the promissory, *LIKE US ON FACEBOOK *. Cheers to the first week of the new tri (do we still call them sems?)! Liam and the Exec. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
