I think you have some good points, but your ire is somewhat
exaggerated considering that there has been (to my knowledge) no
formal changes to how the system works.

One point I would note is that in the past I have seen/accepted
absentee votes. The process (recommended by me from memory) is to
email your vote to the returning officer declaring your intended
votes. I have also suggested CC'ing PSExec and/or the general list if
you want to be sure of coverage and that the returning officer (or
your nominated proxy) votes as you request.

Obviously this is not a perfect/official solution, but has been done
before without issue. Thus, if you wish to vote I would do as such (I
may have to leave proxy/absentee votes with some at the AGM this year
due to time/clash).
